Meet Bart-Jan, our Chief Executive Officer.
The 24-year-old founder of Otamiser, graduated from Ghent University with a master's in finance, is indeed a fervent soccer enthusiast. Coffee is his addictions. Similar to the entire Otamiser team, he shares a deep love for travel and exploring the world.
Here is His Story.
‘’From a young age, it was evident to me that I had a strong desire to become an entrepreneur. I was always fascinated by the idea of creating something from scratch, building a business, and making a positive impact on people's lives.
As I grew older, my passion for entrepreneurship only intensified. I would constantly come up with new business ideas, brainstorming ways to solve problems and meet people's needs in innovative ways. I found myself devouring books, articles, and videos about successful entrepreneurs, learning from their experiences and taking inspiration from their journeys.
Throughout my educational years, I sought opportunities to gain practical experience in the business world. This is what led me to pursue my other passion, finance.
When the time finally came, I took the leap and started Otamiser.’’
You and Otamiser, How Did it Happen?
‘’It all began back in July 2021 when I wanted to move away from student jobs. My parents run a Bed and Breakfast in the heart of Bruges, and my educational background led me to develop a fascination with the front-end aspects of pricing. As I delved into revenue management and explored different pricing models, I realized that revenue managers have to adapt to market conditions but lack the ability to turn those conditions in their favor. This realization sparked my quest to find a way to increase property-specific demand, and that's when the idea of ranking came into play.
During the initial year, I worked tirelessly on a proof of work and a proof of concept. Thanks to the collaboration with Lucas Ballyn, now our CTO, we successfully launched the first bootstrapped version of our solution.
Since then, my life has changed, and I couldn't be more grateful to share this journey with the most amazing team.’’
Favorite Memory in Otamiser
‘’The opening of our first office, back in Bruges, will always stay with me. We were so happy to have an office the first days, it's a feeling that will remain a good memory.’’
What is Your Favorite Remote Work Location?
"Well, I don't have a particular place in mind, but I thoroughly enjoy strolling into coffee shops and setting up my workspace there. Who wouldn't appreciate a scenic beach view while working?"
